Its no fun being sick…

Some of you may know already, but some may not know that Peyton is in the hospital.
We have been here since Monday morning. He started to complain of his leg hurting on Saturday, he said he scratched it on the coffee table, but by that evening, his leg was really hurting and he was limping. That night he wouldn't even walk to the bathroom and had to be carried.

Sunday he woke up and said his back was hurting and both legs hurt.

On Monday he wouldn't even turn his neck and stiffened up like a board when I carried him to the bathtub, so it was time to go to the doctor. We should have taken him in Sunday, but we waited until Monday. Well when we got the the doctors office, Peyton told the doctor that everything hurt. She did a strep test which came out negative. She said that she was worried about Meningitis, which I was also concerned about. She told us to go straight to the hospital.

Well, the Spirit was looking out for us, because my good friend Shanna happened to be at the doctors office with her kids at the same time we were and she was coming out of her treatment room at the same time as we were, and I filled her in on what we were doing with Peyton and she offered to take Jackson with her for a while and then my other good friend Jess would watch him the rest of the day.

What a blessing to have such good friends. Josh who kept me company while Peyton was sleeping, Susie who brought me all kinds of goodies to keep me and Peyton busy, including this laptop. And to Jim who came to visit us today and answered a lot of medical questions we had. And Jess who has had Jackson for 2 days now. We are so thankful.

Well, when we got to the hospital another pediatrician examined him and decided to go draw blood and do a hip x-ray, and those results all came out negative. Then he decided to go ahead with the spinal tap for the Meningitis. He sedated Peyton which was really good, because it looked really painful. One of the results came out negative right away, but we are still waiting for the last culture to see if he has Meningitis or not and whether it is viral or bacterial. If that comes out negative, then the doctor really doesn't know what it is. He has a few ideas, and he said he might order a few more tests tomorrow. So for now its me and Peyton stuck quarantined to this small hospital room.

He seems to be feeling better. He did get some strong antibiotics yesterday and then today broke out in a rash, so they changed his antibiotic. I know the doctor will probably test for some arthritis, for a 3 year old. Crazy.

I am looking forward to tomorrow to see what diagnosis Peyton is going to get. They will probably send us home to wait it out. If he just has a strange virus it will clear up in 5-7 days. I will keep everyone posted as I find out.

Jackson and Peyton

Gotta love these boys! They keep me busy and a little ragged sometimes, but they are just so cute and sweet that I try to ignore how tired I am and how much they drive me crazy sometimes.

Jackson is a Momma's boy for sure.

Who am I kidding, Peyton is too. He is actually a self proclaimed Momma's boy. When Jackson was a few months old, I was feeding him in the middle of the night in my bed and I have a baby monitor in Peyton's room with the speaker in our room. Well out of nowhere, in his sleep, Peyton yells out. No! Momma's boy. It was so funny. Jackson had woken Craig up so he was awake when Peyton said that in his sleep. We still joke about that.

Ladies, he's mine!

The boy loves to bounce!

big and strong

Peyton and I found this huge DEAD bug on the deck today. I am so glad that it was dead, because it was huge.

I said to Peyton. "That is a really big bug isn't it"
He replys "Yeah, its big and Strong" Then he says "Like me! You know that?"
("you know that?" is his new favorite saying. I guess I must say that a lot...you know that?)

I pulled up this page to show Peyton the other day and he said "theres that big bug. It is so strong. It has big muscles." Too funny.

Here is my big and strong boy in his new John Deere tractor shirt. Jackson has one too, but I didn't get a picture of him in it yet.

5 months old today

WOW!! Jackson is already 5 months old. I know I keep saying this, but really where has the time gone?

I have been taking Jackson's picture every month in the same chair, with the same rooster so that we can tell how big he is getting and how much he has changed.

Jackson and Peyton.

What?

Me and my buddy. I am having quite the bad hair day, but that is ok.

Silly Peyton.

Jackson loves this chair.

What a cutie!

New Suit!

A few weekends ago we went shopping and Craig got his first suit ever! He was so proud of it. I just had to get a picture of him with the boys. They just looked so handsome. We picked up a new suit for both Peyton and Jackson as well, but it was in the 90s so I figured they could wait to wear them. I just love these boys and am so happy they are in my life. Seeing Craig in this suit makes me think back to the handsome tux he wore at our wedding 9 years ago. Oh, happy days!

Spiders and Giraffes

I have a quick Peyton-ism to share before I forget.
So Peyton was running outside and he fell down and skinned his knee. Well, a few days later while I was changing him, he showed me his skinned up knee and I asked him what happened to see what he would say, and this was his response.

Peyton: "A spider pushed me down."
Me: "He did. That wasn't nice of him."
Peyton: "Yeah, and a giraffe bite me too. You know that?"

Too funny. The imagination on this kid cracks me up!

My favorites

Here are some of my favorite shots from yesterday. Peyton and Jackson did such a great job getting their pictures taken. They both were in such good moods and as long as we could keep Peyton's attention, he did great. As you can tell Jackson has discovered his tongue recently. I am thinking that for a few weeks now, most of his smiles are with his long tongue sticking out, along with baby slobber. These will be great memories!

I love my boys!

Jackson. Can't believe that he is already 4 1/2 months old.

Peyton is 2 1/2.

Jackson and Peyton.

Too sweet! Peyton really loves his brother. This one wasn't even posed. This is just naturally Peyton and Jackson.
This one was our favorite of both boys.

This one makes Peyton look so grown up!

This one made us crack up!

Peyton loved this radio flyer car.
He kept wanting to drive it though, so it was a bit challenging to photogragh.
We even managed to get a shot of both boys on the car. I think Peyton was nervous about having Jackson on there with him. Jackson wasn't holding on he kept saying!

Professional Photos

We had professional pictures taken yesterday, and as usual, we had tons of great pictures to choose from. We had our favorites, but I love to put all the pictures in collages. I will post our favorites when I get a chance. Until then, enjoy.

Our trip to Colorado and Jackson's first airplane ride

Here we are on our summer vacation to Colorado. Craig and I and both kids ventured out to Colorado. Peyton is quite a seasoned flyer with 4 trips already under his belt, but this is the first time we have had to pay for him now that he is 2. He does pretty well in the airplane, but like all kids, he has a hard time staying in his seat and needs lots of activities and snacks. He didn't sleep at all during the flight, but right as soon as we landed, he laid his head on Craig's lap for a quick nap. Jackson also did well on the trip. I had to feed him quite a bit especially during takeoff and landing and he took a nice nap during the flight. It was nice to have the help of Craig for the flight to Colorado, unfortunately I flew solo on the way home (minus Craig). Actually both boys did well both flights and I ended up having a 12 year old boy sitting next to me on my return flight that didn't seem bothered by us. I am sure he was weirded out by me nursing Jackson, but oh well. I have a coverup so I am sure he just wasn't sure what I was doing more than anything.

Craig and Jackson

Peyton loved looking out the window.

A bad self portrait, but here I am!
