My "new" countertops!

While my parents are here, they have decided to help me with a few projects. Craig isn't really the handyman type of a guy, so this was much needed. My dad is going to put up new ceiling fans, repair my laundry room light, which hasn't been working since January, and install digital thermostats. I am super excited. My mom offered to re grout my nasty tile counter tops and I was thrilled. I have always hated these counter tops because the grout wore down and left huge grooves where food and other gross things collect. I never felt like I could clean them very well. I am sure now that my mom didn't know what she was offering to do. This turned into a major project that took 3 days to complete. She did most of it and I helped when I could. Having a 6 week old and a 2 year-old really limits the amounts of major projects that I can help with. Anyways, she had to scrap out all of the old grout, clean it real good then put in new grout and smooth it out. It took forever. Then after it was dried then I cleaned it all with a haze remover and then sealed the grout. I was absolutely amazed at how wonderful they look now. I know that they are going to be easier to clean and they just look so much better. Now I only wish that I had taken a before and after picture. I am not too good at doing things like that!

Spartacus. He thinks that this new space is his. I guess this is his way of saying that the job was "cat approved".

Now I told Craig, all I need are new appliances, new sink, faucet, and new cabinets and the makeover would be complete!
